Wedgetailed Eagle
Oil on board. ORIGINAL SOLD
I tried to capture the strength and the regal quality of this amazing bird. While soaring over an updraft one Eagle will fly beneath the other and turn upside down to show its talons. They will then sometimes grasp each other’s claws and tumble over and over in what appears to be either a mating routine or perhaps just play… A privilege to watch!
I have watched them in pairs at Mount Kaputar. On the linked page click on the photo to get a great enlarged view. Whole page of photo’s here.
Thanks to Mark Pound for the photographs.
